Red tiger’s eye is a variety of microcrystalline quartz notable for its intense reddish colour and characteristic cat’s eye optical effect. This gemstone is generally obtained by gently heat-treating traditional tiger’s eye, which oxidises the iron within it. It is a highly prized mineral in jewellery for its silky lustre and high surface hardness.
