Unakite is an altered granite rock composed mainly of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote and colourless quartz. Its characteristic mottled appearance stems from the balance between these minerals, making it a highly prized stone in decorative arts and jewellery. It is formed by hydrothermal processes that transform the original granite, resulting in a stone of great hardness and high resistance to wear.
