Cavansite is a vanadium and calcium silicate mineral. It is a collector's mineral prized for its aesthetic appeal; it is not used as an industrial ore nor does it have any significant commercial uses.
It forms secondarily in the cavities of basaltic rocks, with India being its most famous deposit and producer of the finest specimens.
