Labradorite is a fascinating mineral belonging to the feldspar group (plagioclases), notable primarily for its spectacular optical effect known as labradorescence. This phenomenon produces metallic flashes of blue, green and yellow – and, in rare specimens, purple or red – which appear when light strikes its surface at certain angles.
