Mini Iridescent Ammonites.
Piece size: 2-3 cm approx.
SET OF 54 UNITS
The iridescent ammonite is the popular name given to the fossilized shells of ammonites (extinct mollusks) that exhibit a stunning rainbow effect.
The iridescence of these shells is due to a very particular fossilization process, in which the nacre (aragonite) layer of the shell is preserved and mineralized into very thin layers. When light strikes these layers, it splits and reflects in different colors, creating an opalescent effect similar to that of pearls.
