Rough Apatite.
Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals whose composition is mainly based on calcium phosphate. It is an essential mineral, being the main industrial source of phosphorus and phosphate, crucial for the manufacture of fertilisers. Its most distinctive feature is its wide variety of colours (it can be colourless, yellow, blue, green or violet), which historically led to it being confused with other gems, hence its name derived from the Greek meaning “to deceive”. In biology, it is the fundamental mineral component of tooth enamel and bones. Its hardness is relatively low, at 5 on the Mohs scale.
