Smoky quartz is a macrocrystalline variety of quartz that ranges in colour from translucent grey to a deep brown or almost black (known as morion quartz). It belongs to the trigonal crystal system, and its characteristic colour is due to the natural irradiation of trace amounts of aluminium within its structure.
Whether in its natural form or polished, this mineral is highly valued for its ability to channel energy. It is distinguished by its vitreous transparency and its well-defined faces that terminate in a vertex, allowing the vibration to be directed towards a specific point.
