Covellite (or covellite) is a mineral composed of copper sulphide (CuS). It is characterised by its softness (1.5–2 on the Mohs scale) and perfect exfoliation, commonly appearing in laminar masses within secondary enrichment zones of copper deposits. Although it is a minor ore for copper extraction, its rarity makes it highly prized by mineral collectors.
