Danburite belongs to the orthorhombic crystallisation system, with elongated, lustrous, prismatic crystals. It is found in metamorphic rocks and hydrothermal deposits. It is known for its clarity and shades ranging from colourless to pale yellow or pink. It is named after its place of discovery, Danbury, Connecticut, where the first specimens were found.
