Crystallized Gypsum (var. Selenite) is the transparent and highly crystallized form of the mineral gypsum (CaSO4?⋅2H2?O). It is characterized by forming long, flat, and often very clear crystals, giving it an appearance similar to glass or the moon (hence its name, selenite). Like gypsum, it is an extremely soft mineral.
